The AI chip market is exploding! Nvidia has reached two trillion dollar evaluation and the edge market provides an opportunity of $100+ billion. While the GPUs have become a standard for data-center AI applications, the edge AI market is fragmented. There are several chip solutions that cater to niche applications, but offer limited scalability and a broken software flow.

Ojas is a Silicon Valley based AI chip company that aims to make AI accessible to every type of edge application. Ojas is taking a 'software-first' approach and building a RISC V based AI SoC. The chip will offer a rich set of software development tools to migrate existing code and build new code. The scalable architecture will come in different performance, power and price points suitable for a range of edge devices.

Built by silicon valley veterans

Ojas was founded in 2023 by Anand Joshi, who servers as the CEO. Anand is recognized as expert in the AI chip industry, and presents and writes frequently. Anand is a semiconductor industry veteran with experience in several AI chip companies as well as an analyst. The company is backed by Bobby Rekhi, a prominent silicon valley investor who serves as the Chairman of the company.

The company's team is located in partnership with IIT in India, and Dr. Binod Kumar, an expert in AI hardware servers as the CTO and VP of Hardware. Dr. Uday Reddy,  faculty of IISC Bangalore, is the VP, Software and manages the compiler development.

Dr. Jin Kim, and Mike Uhler, two prominent names in AI chip industry are the advisors to the company on software and hardware.

Accelerate Entire AI Application

The company's mission is to enable acceleration of complete AI application pipeline - whether its pre-processing, post-processing or neural network processing. The company's solution is based on  RISC V processor with processing-in-memory accelerator. Two together, when combined with software stack, enable highest power efficiency and flexibility needed to run a range of applications, that include computer vision as well as generative AI.
